Mid-level Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a Mid-level Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney to enhance their IP litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in intellectual property litigation and a technical background in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering. The role demands strong academic credentials, as well as exceptional writing and research skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex IP cases and contributing to all stages of litigation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee complex intellectual property litigation cases, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
• Draft and prepare various legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
• Handle discovery processes, including document review, production, and deposition preparation.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.
• Develop and implement effective litigation strategies in collaboration with clients and legal teams.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys and support staff.
• Stay current on developments in intellectual property law and relevant technological advancements.

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of experience in intellectual property litigation.
• Preferably has a technical background in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.
• Strong academic credentials with a demonstrated excellence in legal research and writing.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Technical degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering is highly preferred.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois Bar or eligibility for admission is required.
