Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Patent Agent to join its busy patent counseling and prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will possess industry experience across various disciplines within chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, or biomedical engineering.

Duties:

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
• Analyze patent and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys with prosecution, counseling, and litigation
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of law firm experience
• Substantive industry experience in relevant fields

Education:

• Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field)
• An advanced degree is a plus

Certifications:

• Must be a registered US patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam

Skills:

• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English
• Broad scientific knowledge in mechanical and/or biomedical engineering
• Initiative, fast learning, and ability to work collaboratively
