Job Overview
A Burbank-based law firm is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to join its team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the litigation department, working with a dedicated team of support staff to progress cases from filing to trial or settlement. The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in civil procedure, trial advocacy, and case management. Duties

  • Supervise the progression of cases from filing to trial/settlement, collaborating with discovery clerks, paralegals, and litigation secretaries.
  • Propound and respond to discovery, draft motions, briefs, and meet-and-confer letters.
  • Review legal documents and correspondence prepared by staff.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues.
  • Provide guidance to staff and clients on legal matters.
  • Attend client meetings, depositions, court hearings, and trials.
  • Prepare briefs, motions, and other legal documents for litigation.
  • Negotiate on behalf of clients, aiming for favorable and cost-effective resolutions.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate client records.
  • Supervise paralegals and administrative assistants, ensuring efficient workflow.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of personal injury law experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in California, including in both state and federal courts.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and own transportation to attend court hearings and trials throughout the state.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues to serve clients.
  • Ability to handle moderate case loads while meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills
