Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a senior associate attorney with 5+ years of experience in creditors’ rights and bankruptcy law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in representing financial institutions and other commercial lenders in complex commercial loan workouts, out-of-court restructurings, and bankruptcy proceedings. The role will involve significant work in workout negotiation and documentation, state and federal court litigation, and creditor representation in bankruptcy cases. Experience in commercial debt collection and post-judgment enforcement is highly preferred.

Location:

Duties:

  • Represent financial institutions and commercial lenders in complex commercial loan workouts and restructurings.
  • Handle out-of-court negotiations and documentation for restructurings.
  • Engage in state and federal court litigation related to creditors' rights and bankruptcy matters.
  • Represent creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, including both commercial and consumer bankruptcies.
  • Manage commercial debt collection and post-judgment enforcement matters.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and support to clients on bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and motions.
  • Collaborate with clients to achieve favorable outcomes in complex legal matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of significant experience in creditors’ rights and bankruptcy law.
  • Experience in representing financial institutions in commercial loan workouts, restructurings, and litigation.
  • Strong understanding of both state and federal bankruptcy law and procedures.
  • Experience handling commercial debt collection and post-judgment enforcement is preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and provide strategic legal guidance.
  • Proven litigation experience with a focus on creditors' rights and bankruptcy matters.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and writing skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (Required).

  • Expertise in creditors' rights and bankruptcy law, including workout negotiations and restructurings.
  • Strong litigation skills, especially in complex commercial bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and writing abilities.
