Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a senior-level affordable housing associate or counsel with 6+ years of law firm experience to join a nationally recognized Affordable Housing team. This team collaborates with both for-profit and nonprofit developers, investors, and governmental entities to develop, acquire, construct, finance, operate, and preserve affordable housing across Texas and various other locations nationwide. The ideal candidate will handle complex transactions, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating documents related to affordable housing projects.

Location:

  • Cleveland, OH

Duties:

  • Lead all aspects of affordable housing development and finance transactions, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating transaction documents.

  • Provide expert legal advice on affordable housing finance, development, and incentives.

  • Manage project documentation and due diligence, ensuring legal and business compliance.

  • Interact directly with clients and opposing parties, managing client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient transaction management and optimal outcomes.

  • Communicate complex legal information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.

  • Handle high-pressure transactions and meet tight deadlines effectively.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of relevant law firm experience focused on affordable housing transactions, including finance, development, and incentives.

  • Proven ability to handle all facets of affordable housing development and finance transactions from structuring to execution.

  • Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating complex transaction documents.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage client relationships effectively.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills, thriving in a collaborative team environment.

Education:

  • J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.

  • Strong academic record.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the State Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (TX, OH, or FL, depending on location).

Skills:

  • Expertise in affordable housing law, finance, and development.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and legal research skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
