Entry Level Immigration Attorney

A reputable law firm based in Sacramento, CA is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its growing immigration practice. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a newly admitted attorney or early-career legal professional to gain experience in removal defense, family-based immigration, and USCIS-related matters. The successful candidate will manage a caseload under the guidance of senior attorneys and will have opportunities for long-term growth and professional development within the firm.

Duties

• Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals

• Conduct legal intakes with detained and non-detained individuals, including on-site at detention facilities

• Provide legal consultations and explain immigration options to prospective clients

• Prepare and review immigration filings including applications for family-based immigration, removal defense, waivers, and humanitarian relief

• Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation for submission to immigration courts and agencies

• Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court testimony

• Monitor changes in immigration law and collaborate with community partners, prosecutors, and law enforcement on relevant issues

• Maintain organized case files and manage deadlines efficiently

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law

• Ability to manage a caseload under supervision while growing in autonomy

• Collaborative mindset and ability to contribute to a team-oriented environment

• Familiarity with EOIR and USCIS procedures

• Experience with detained clients, family-based petitions, and humanitarian applications

• Experience with case management software preferred

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in any U.S. state (in good standing)
