Job Overview:
An established law firm in Stanislaus, CA is seeking an experienced Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to join its dedicated legal team. This role offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned attorney to work closely with skilled colleagues in criminal defense, taking on a range of challenging cases and representing clients in high-stakes legal matters. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in criminal defense, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Duties:

• Provide counsel to clients on their legal rights, draft relevant legal documents, and strategize case approaches
• Attend pretrial hearings, offering advice to clients post-hearing on effective legal strategies
• Handle courtroom appearances, manage trials, draft motions, conduct witness interviews, and perform in-depth legal research
• Evaluate likely outcomes of cases by leveraging knowledge of legal precedents
• Oversee and manage a personal caseload, ensuring timely progression of cases
• Deliver comprehensive legal analysis to clients, outlining potential benefits and strategies for each case
• Collect and present additional evidence to support client cases or to counter prosecution arguments
• Prepare clients for depositions, establish case goals, and gather information from witnesses and expert sources to support the client’s defense

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in criminal defense
• Demonstrated expertise in handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels
• Collaborative mindset with a strong team-oriented attitude
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required)
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to client-focused advocacy

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active Bar license in California

Certifications:

• State Bar of California (must be an admitted attorney)

Skills:

• Strong case management and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Ability to synthesize complex legal information and articulate it effectively to clients and colleagues
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting
• Interpersonal acumen suitable for sensitive client matters and teamwork
