Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking an Associate with 4-7 years of experience for its Family Wealth practice in San Francisco. This practice serves high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and privately-owned businesses, with a particular focus on family wealth generated from industries such as technology, real estate, finance, and food and beverage (e.g., wine). The associate will join a team that provides tailored legal services to meet the unique needs of clients in these sectors, with opportunities for autonomy and client relationship development.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Provide legal support to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and family offices.
  • Assist with the management and protection of family wealth, including tax planning, estate planning, and business succession.
  • Support clients in the technology, real estate, finance, and food and beverage industries.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys in developing and expanding client relationships.
  • Draft and review estate planning documents, trusts, and related legal documents.
  • Advise clients on wealth transfer strategies, business formation, and tax-efficient estate plans.
  • Participate in client meetings and assist in addressing complex legal matters affecting family wealth.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in family wealth or estate planning.
  • Strong experience in tax planning, wealth management, and estate administration.
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters and demonstrate autonomy in client interactions.
  • Experience with high-net-worth clients and family offices, with an understanding of their unique legal and business needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage client relationships effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • LLM in Taxation is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Expertise in family wealth, estate planning, and tax law.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
