Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a talented and motivated mid-level tax associate to join its dynamic Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team. This role offers a unique opportunity for a lateral associate with experience in partnership tax, federal income tax credits, and affordable housing law. The firm serves a diverse range of clients, including for-profit and nonprofit developers in the development, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, operation, and sale of affordable multifamily housing throughout the U.S. utilizing various federal, state, and local affordable housing programs.

Duties:

  • Represent and advise clients in the development, acquisition, and operation of affordable housing projects across the United States.
  • Utilize federal, state, and local affordable housing programs to facilitate project development.
  • Provide expertise in partnership tax matters and federal income tax credits.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients on complex tax and real estate matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including partnership agreements, contracts, and tax-related materials.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant tax laws and housing regulations.
  • Contribute to the growth and success of the firm’s Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in partnership tax, ideally including federal income tax credits.
  • Strong background in accounting, with an undergraduate degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Membership in the Florida State Bar (or eligibility for immediate admission).
  • Excellent academic credentials with strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and organizational abilities.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • LLM in Taxation is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar (in good standing).

Skills:

  • Expertise in partnership taxation and affordable housing programs.
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining individual responsibilities.
