Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking a Project Finance Associate to join its energy project development and finance practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale renewable energy projects, providing legal counsel on complex financing and development matters. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in U.S. project finance, with a strong focus on renewable energy. The firm is looking for an individual with expertise in financing documentation and commercial project agreements, including PPAs, EPCs, and development agreements.

Location:

  • Boston, MA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on energy project development and finance, with a focus on renewable energy projects
  • Draft and negotiate principal financing documentation, including purchase agreements, partnership agreements, credit agreements, security agreements, and depositary agreements
  • Prepare and review key commercial project documentation, including development agreements, PPAs, EPCs, site control, and interconnection agreements
  • Perform due diligence related to project financing and commercial agreements
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient delivery of legal services
  • Manage multiple competing priorities and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with clients and colleagues

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of project finance experience, with a focus on renewable energy and project development
  • Law firm experience required
  • Proficiency in financing and commercial project documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines
  • Professionalism in working with demanding clients
  • Collaborative and team-oriented work style

Education:

  • JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted or eligible for admission in Massachusetts (MA), New York (NY), California (CA), or Washington, DC

Skills:

  • Project finance experience, particularly in renewable energy
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Legal research and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
