A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a highly motivated Residential Transactional Closing Attorney to manage and oversee cooperative, condominium, and house transactions. The ideal candidate will have experience in NYC real estate, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to handle closings both in-person and remotely. This role requires a proactive individual with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of client service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transaction Coordination: Coordinate and manage all aspects of cooperative, condominium, and house transactions, ensuring smooth and efficient closings.
  • Closing Management: Handle closings both in-person and remotely, ensuring all necessary documentation and procedures are completed accurately.
  • Document Review: Review and analyze bank documents, title reports, and other legal documents related to real estate transactions.
  • Client Communication: Explain complex legal terms and procedures to clients in an understandable manner; maintain a professional, friendly, and courteous demeanor.
  • Escrow Negotiation: Negotiate and manage escrow agreements, ensuring all terms are clear and agreed upon.
  • Title Review and Clearance: Perform title review and clearance to ensure there are no issues affecting the property’s title.
  • Loan Payoffs and CEMAs: Handle coop loan payoffs and CEMAs (Consolidation, Extension, and Modification Agreements).
  • Follow-Up: Maintain superior service levels by following up with clients and colleagues to address any issues or questions.
  • Independent Work: Work independently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a high energy level and the ability to self-start.

Requirements

  • Experience: Experience as a Residential Transactional Attorney in NYC real estate is required.
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of real estate transactions, including cooperative, condominium, and house closings.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
    • Ability to explain legal terms and procedures to clients in a clear and accessible manner.
    • High energy level and ability to work independently and proactively.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to maintain a professional, friendly, and courteous manner in all client interactions.
