Corporate (Restructuring) Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm is seeking a Corporate Restructuring Associate to represent various clients, including debtors, creditor committees, lenders, and asset purchasers, in both in-court and out-of-court restructuring matters. This role involves handling complex restructuring cases, including cross-border issues, offering a challenging and dynamic professional environment.

Location:

• Chicago, IL

Duties:

• Represent clients in restructuring cases, including Chapter 11 proceedings
• Present and argue contested matters in court
• Participate in direct client communications and provide legal guidance
• Draft pleadings, including first-day motions, and manage all documents related to reorganization
• Assist in the sale or purchase of distressed assets
• Oversee orderly liquidations and claims reconciliation processes
• Conduct negotiations for settlements and collaborate with official creditors committees
• Engage in discussions with unsecured creditors, banks, and other stakeholders

Requirements:

• 2 to 4 years of experience in restructuring, including Chapter 11 cases
• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction(s)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction(s)

Skills:

• Strong litigation and courtroom advocacy skills
• Proficiency in drafting legal documents, such as pleadings and reorganization plans
• Excellent client relationship management and communication skills
• Ability to manage complex restructuring negotiations and settlements
• Familiarity with bankruptcy and restructuring law
