Job Overview:
A leading law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated and experienced Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join their growing team. The Post-Conviction Relief Attorney will manage a caseload involving post-conviction relief matters, including motions to vacate, expungements, and reductions in sentences, and will play a vital role in the firm’s criminal and immigration law practices.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents for post-conviction cases
  • Handle post-conviction relief cases, such as motions to vacate, expungements, and motions for sentence reductions or early termination of probation
  • Attend motion hearings and advise clients on strategy following hearings
  • Manage open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing
  • Prepare legal motions, perform client interviews, and conduct legal research
  • Analyze potential outcomes based on legal precedents
  • Manage case workload efficiently while maintaining high levels of client communication
  • Provide legal analysis to help clients assess the potential benefits of their cases

Requirements:

  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law, with a preference for familiarity with post-conviction relief matters
  • Proven ability to handle criminal cases at the state and local levels
  • Strong teamwork abilities and willingness to collaborate with fellow associates
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, though not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice law in California

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar
