Job Overview:

A prominent law firm in Newark, NJ is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to handle high-value personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in jury trials, managing all phases of litigation from pre-trial preparation through trial and post-trial motions. This position offers the opportunity to represent clients in state and federal courts, working on a range of personal injury cases, including auto accidents, medical malpractice, and catastrophic injuries.

Location:

  • Newark, New Jersey

Duties:

  • Meet with clients to discuss their cases and file lawsuits on their behalf.
  • Propound and respond to written discovery requests.
  • Schedule and attend fact witness depositions.
  • Retain and work with expert witnesses, attending all expert depositions.
  • Schedule and attend court hearings.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations to negotiate settlements.
  • Prepare cases for trial and try them to verdict.
  • Prepare and file appropriate post-trial motions.
  • Participate in file audits, litigation meetings, and trial clinics.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and in good standing.
  • Extensive experience as a Personal Injury Litigator.
  • Proven success in handling jury trials, with a minimum of 2 jury trials as first chair.
  • Ability to manage a large and active caseload from filing through verdict.
  • Strong ability to provide direction and guidance to legal staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled negotiator with strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Confident courtroom presence with a passion for trial work.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and good-standing license to practice law in New Jersey.

Skills:

  • Expertise in personal injury litigation and trial practice.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Excellent communication and legal research skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership abilities to guide and collaborate with legal teams.
