A law firm in New York City is seeking a Real Estate Special Counsel with extensive experience in real estate finance, including representing borrowers and lenders, as well as handling acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials and previous experience at a top-tier firm. This role involves leading complex real estate transactions and providing high-level legal counsel to clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex real estate finance transactions, including acting for both borrowers and lenders.
  • Oversee and advise on acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures involving various asset classes.
  • Draft and negotiate key real estate documents, including loan agreements, purchase/sale agreements, and joint venture agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and guidance on structuring transactions to meet client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence and risk assessments for real estate transactions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to ensure seamless execution of transactions.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and legal proceedings as needed.
  • Stay current with developments in real estate law and industry trends to offer informed advice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York Bar and in good standing.
  • Significant experience in real estate finance, acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures.
  • Strong academic credentials with a preference for previous experience at a top-tier law firm.
  • Proven track record of handling complex real estate transactions and providing high-level legal counsel.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Advanced drafting and negotiation skills for various real estate documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Proficient in legal research and due diligence processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to achieve optimal outcomes.
