Job Overview

A distinguished law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney with experience in public agency law to join its Fresno office. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in labor and employment law, specifically in representing public agencies such as school districts. This role involves advising on a wide range of employment issues, from hiring and drafting contracts to collective bargaining and administrative hearings.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to public school districts and other public agencies on labor and employment matters
  • Advise on employment-related issues including hiring, contract drafting, and collective bargaining
  • Handle cases involving grievances, discrimination, retaliation, layoffs, discipline, and dismissals
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, with experience in this area preferred
  • Assist with cases involving misconduct allegations and other complex employment issues

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as an attorney in labor and employment law
  • Passion for working with public agencies and on employment law matters
  • Experience in administrative hearings is a plus

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the California Bar

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex legal matters
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently as needed
  • Demonstrated experience in public agency law is preferred
