Restructuring Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a highly skilled Restructuring Associate Attorney to join their team in New York City, NY. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal counsel on various restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency matters. This role involves representing corporate debtors, lenders, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in out-of-court and court-based restructuring proceedings. The ideal candidate will have experience with cross-border restructurings, Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 bankruptcies, and receivership matters.

Duties:

• Provide strategic legal counsel on restructuring, bankruptcy, and insolvency matters, including out-of-court reorganization, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Chapter 15 bankruptcy, and receivership.
• Represent corporate debtors, lenders, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in out-of-court restructuring matters.
• Advise clients on cross-border restructurings and insolvency proceedings.
• Negotiate and prepare court pleadings, motions, and transactional legal documents.
• Conduct legal research on emerging restructuring issues.
• Review and analyze Chapter 11 plans and disclosure statements.
• Draft documents for complex financial transactions.
• Assist with enforcement strategy and advise creditors facing multi-jurisdiction corporate borrowers.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree.
• Must be admitted to practice law in good standing in New York or another US state.
• At least 1 year of experience with restructuring and insolvency matters.
• Experience must include:
  • 1 year of assisting with cross-border restructuring, insolvency, and enforcement strategy.
  • 1 year of advising creditors facing multi-jurisdiction corporate borrowers.
  • 1 year of handling Asia Pacific cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters.
  • 1 year of advising secured creditors on restructuring and receivership matters.
  • 1 year of preparing court pleadings.
  • 1 year of drafting documents for complex financial transactions.
  • 6 months of experience conducting legal research for pleadings filed in US bankruptcy court.
  • 6 months of reviewing Chapter 11 plans and disclosure statements.
