A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an International Trade Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in international trade policy and supply chain issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, a solid understanding of international trade laws and policies, and persuasive writing abilities. Candidates with quantitative skills and a background in accounting or economics are preferred. Willingness to travel internationally is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on international trade matters, including tariffs, customs issues, and trade policies related to China, USMCA, Sections 232 and 301, UFLPA, and WTO.
  • Advise clients on supply chain issues, including ESG-related tracing and due diligence, supply chain reshoring efforts (e.g., CHIPS and IRA), and compliance with UFLPA, EUDR, and CBAM.
  • Represent clients in advocacy efforts before the executive branch and Congress.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including policy briefs, position papers, and compliance reports.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on international trade and supply chain issues.
  • Manage and oversee case files, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to develop and implement strategic solutions.
  • Stay informed about current developments in international trade policies, regulations, and practices.
  • Travel internationally as required to support client needs and represent the firm's interests.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in international trade policy, including knowledge of China, USMCA, Sections 232 and 301, UFLPA, tariffs, and customs issues.
  • Experience with supply chain issues, including ESG-related tracing, due diligence, and reshoring efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Quantitative skills and a background in accounting or economics are preferred.
  • Excellent persuasive writing abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership and standing in the District of Columbia Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of international trade laws and policies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other quantitative tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
