Job Overview:

This position is ideal for individuals with substantial experience in patent application drafting and prosecution within the field of medical devices. The role requires expertise in bioengineering, mechanical engineering, and related disciplines, with additional knowledge in artificial intelligence or computer science being an asset.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices.
  • Respond to office actions from the USPTO and handle communications with examiners.
  • Conduct thorough prior art searches to assist in patentability assessments.
  • Collaborate with senior professionals on the preparation of legal opinions regarding patent matters.
  • Manage various aspects of the patent lifecycle, ensuring compliance with USPTO regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in the medical device and bioengineering fields.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Patent Agent, particularly in the medical device and bioengineering sectors.
  • Proven track record in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Admitted to practice before the USPTO.
  • Proficiency in performing prior art searches and preparing patent opinions.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in bioengineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and research abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
