Complex Litigation Associate

Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Complex Litigation Associate to join its national and local complex civil litigation practice. The firm represents Fortune 500 companies in a variety of complex legal matters, including product liability, toxic torts, transportation, premises liability, breach of contract, and business torts. The associate will play an integral role in case development and trial preparation, gaining experience across multiple areas of litigation.

Location:

• Richmond, VA.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as briefs, motions, and memoranda.

• Prepare and manage fact and expert witness testimony.

• Take and defend depositions.

• Appear at court hearings and assist in trial preparation.

• Work collaboratively with senior attorneys to develop case strategies.

• Assist in managing and organizing case files, documents, and evidence.

• Participate in settlement negotiations when applicable.

• Maintain clear and concise communication with clients and team members.

Requirements:

• At least two to five years of litigation experience.

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

• Ability to handle multiple complex cases simultaneously.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must be a self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills:

• Expertise in civil litigation and trial preparation.

• Familiarity with handling complex legal matters such as product liability and toxic torts.
