Job Overview:

A growing law firm in Kansas City, Missouri, specializing in personal injury and disability law, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate is a motivated, creative problem-solver with a passion for helping clients navigate difficult situations. This role involves both litigation and pre-litigation work, and the attorney will interact with clients, insurance companies, judges, and medical professionals to achieve successful case outcomes.

Location:

  • Kansas City, Missouri

Duties:

  • Supervise paralegals and legal assistants to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Communicate empathetically and clearly with clients about case status and strategy.
  • Develop and execute case strategies for personal injury and disability cases.
  • Review medical records and reports relevant to client cases.
  • Provide final edits and approvals for demand packages.
  • Interact and negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of clients.
  • Provide research and writing support for pleadings, motions, and briefs in state and federal court.
  • Review and approve discovery drafts and requests.
  • Participate in depositions, mediations, and trials.

Requirements:

  • Active Bar License in Missouri (both Missouri and Kansas preferred).
  • 3-5 years of legal experience, with 2-3 years of personal injury experience preferred.
  • Litigation experience in state and federal courts.
  • Strong client communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, discovery documents, and correspondence.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri (Kansas Bar admission is a plus).

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat DC, and legal research tools.
  • Experience with case management software (Filevine experience is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research abilities.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
