Job Overview:

A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced and skilled Of Counsel to join its Employment Litigation practice in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, including litigation experience. This role involves providing counsel to employers, defending them in a variety of employment-related legal matters, and representing them before courts, administrative agencies, and during arbitration. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney to take on a leadership role within a collaborative environment.

Location:

  • Norfolk, VA

Duties:

  • Defend and litigate lawsuits involving a broad range of employment-related claims and agency charges of discrimination.
  • Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, at mediations, and in arbitration on employment matters, including class/collective actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, contract disputes, employment torts, and non-compete cases.
  • Provide advice and counsel to employers on a wide range of labor and employment laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on employment law.
  • Active Virginia Bar admission or ability to obtain admission quickly.
  • Strong understanding of current court procedures and employment-related agency (state and federal) regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork.

Education:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Active Virginia Bar admission or ability to obtain admission.
