General Liability Associate Attorney

A law firm in Peoria, IL, is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney.

Job Overview:

The General Liability Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling a variety of legal tasks related to claims and causes of action, including extensive legal research, drafting of briefs and pleadings, representing clients in court and depositions, and trial preparation.

Duties:

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
• Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours
• Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions
• Draft and respond to discovery requests
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses
• Prepare for trials and attend as necessary
• May require some travel

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in General Liability/Trucking/Transportation
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admitted to practice in the state of Illinois; other states a plus
