Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. This position will focus on defending insurance coverage and extracontractual matters within the firm’s Product, Tort, and Insurance Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, particularly in drafting coverage opinions, handling insurance claims, and representing clients in various aspects of insurance litigation. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled team and contribute to the firm’s success in complex insurance-related cases.

Location:

• Washington, DC.

Duties:

• Write comprehensive insurance coverage opinions and provide expert advice on complex coverage issues.
• Investigate insurance claims and analyze relevant case law and statutes.
• Handle written discovery, depositions, and drafting pleadings and substantive motions.
• Represent clients in mediations, court appearances, and assist in trial preparation.
• Provide strategic legal counsel on insurance coverage and extracontractual matters.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on high-profile insurance litigation cases.
• Maintain organized and thorough case files, ensuring timely completion of litigation tasks.

Requirements:

• 5-7 years of litigation experience, specifically in defending insurance coverage and extracontractual matters.
• Experience in writing coverage opinions, investigating claims, and handling depositions and discovery.
• Strong litigation background with the ability to manage complex cases and assist in trial preparation.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A good academic record and prior experience in insurance defense or insurance-related matters.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction(s).

Skills:

• Proficient in drafting and analyzing insurance coverage opinions and pleadings.
• Strong experience in handling discovery, depositions, and motions.
• Litigation experience, including court appearances and trial preparation.
• Excellent legal research skills, with proficiency in legal research tools.
• Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to represent clients effectively in mediations and hearings.
• Familiarity with insurance policies, claims, and the relevant legal landscape.
