Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in patent litigation and will be adept at managing day-to-day litigation tasks. Responsibilities include preparing court pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions, as well as effectively communicating with other lawyers and staff. Experience in taking and defending depositions and knowledge of Hatch-Waxman/ANDA litigation, intellectual property litigation, or prosecution is a plus. Excellent academic credentials, strong communication skills, and practical judgment are essential. Admission to practice in Florida, Georgia, California, DC, New Jersey, or New York is required, with USPTO registration or patent Bar eligibility strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and handle day-to-day litigation tasks for intellectual property cases, including patent disputes.
• Independently prepare and draft court pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions.
• Communicate effectively with other lawyers, staff, and clients regarding case progress and strategy.
• Take and defend depositions as necessary for case preparation and strategy.
• Develop and implement litigation strategies and case management plans.
• Analyze and interpret legal issues related to patent litigation and intellectual property law.
• Provide legal advice and representation in various stages of litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial phases.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
• Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry trends in intellectual property law.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of experience in patent litigation.
• Experience in Hatch-Waxman/ANDA litigation and other intellectual property litigation or prosecution is a plus.
• Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong practical judgment and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Currently admitted to practice in Florida, Georgia, California, DC, New Jersey, or New York.
• USPTO registration number or patent Bar eligibility is strongly preferred.

Education:

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic record with evidence of academic excellence.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Bar in Florida, Georgia, California, DC, New Jersey, or New York.
• USPTO registration number or patent Bar eligibility strongly preferred.
