Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a skilled CFIUS and International Trade/Export Controls Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), U.S. export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The role requires someone who can effectively support a legal team and navigate complex international trade and export control issues. The candidate must be admitted and actively Barred in the state of Washington, DC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on CFIUS-related matters, including advising on foreign investment reviews and compliance.
  • Offer guidance on U.S. export controls and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Assist in developing and implementing compliance strategies for clients to meet export control and ITAR requirements.
  • Support an active legal team in managing international trade regulatory and enforcement issues.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of international trade laws and regulatory developments.
  • Represent clients in interactions with regulatory agencies regarding export controls and CFIUS processes.
  • Stay updated on changes in international trade regulations and advise clients and team members accordingly.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Proven experience with CFIUS processes, U.S. export controls, and ITAR.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Experience in supporting and working within a dynamic legal team.
  • Must be admitted and actively Barred in the District of Columbia.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance with relevant coursework or experience in international trade and export controls.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of CFIUS processes, U.S. export controls, and ITAR regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to support a legal team effectively.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
