A law firm seeks an experienced Biotech Patent Agent to join its intellectual property team in Alexandria, VA. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and provides an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on innovative biotechnology solutions.

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to biotechnology and life sciences.
  • Conduct thorough patentability assessments and provide strategic opinions on intellectual property matters.

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and effectively communicate complex scientific and legal concepts.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes impacting biotechnology patents.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the intellectual property field, specifically in patent application preparation and prosecution.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, complemented by superior academic credentials.
  • A technical background in biology, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office for at least three years is mandatory.
  • An advanced technical degree is desirable but not required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field; advanced degrees are preferred.

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
