Senior Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney for its Sacramento office. This position offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned attorney to advance their career and take on a leadership role within a supportive, growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in criminal defense and a passion for client advocacy. As a Senior Attorney, you will manage cases from start to finish, provide strategic direction, and mentor junior associates, all while collaborating with a dedicated team.

Duties:

• Provide expert legal guidance to clients on their rights and responsibilities
• Represent clients in pretrial hearings, court appearances, and trials
• Draft and file legal motions, affidavits, and other important legal documents
• Conduct legal research and analyze case law to develop defense strategies
• Work closely with clients to gather evidence, prepare testimony, and explore legal options
• Evaluate the potential outcomes of cases using knowledge of criminal law precedents
• Collaborate with other attorneys, legal assistants, and experts to strengthen case positions
• Prepare clients for depositions and trials, ensuring a clear understanding of case strategy
• Offer strategic insights and work with clients to determine the best course of action
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and staff

Requirements:

• Significant experience in criminal defense, with a track record of handling cases at the federal, state, and local levels
• Proven ability to manage a caseload efficiently and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills and a dedication to providing exceptional client service
• A team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to collaborate and strategize with colleagues
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active California State Bar membership in good standing
