Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney

A law firm in San Diego, CA is seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. Extensive experience in civil litigation, including drafting legal documents, managing discovery, handling depositions, and representing clients in court, is essential. The ideal candidate should also possess business development skills, client management experience, and the ability to independently manage cases. Superior academic credentials and strong research and writing abilities are required.

Duties:

• Analyze and interpret insurance policies, focusing on professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Handle insurance coverage disputes and reinsurance matters, providing expert legal advice and representation.
• Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery requests.
• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and handling discovery motions.
• Conduct depositions and represent clients in court appearances, trials, and other legal proceedings.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, managing cases independently from inception to resolution.
• Participate in business development activities to attract new clients and expand the firm's insurance and reinsurance practice.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to develop case strategies and ensure effective case management.
• Stay updated on industry trends, legal developments, and changes in insurance and reinsurance laws.

Requirements:

• 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Extensive experience in drafting legal documents, managing discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
• Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent case management.
• Excellent academic credentials with a demonstrated ability in legal research and writing.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility to practice in California.
