Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly skilled I.P. Life Sciences Technology Transactions Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in licensing, collaboration, and commercial partnering transactions. The ideal candidate will have substantial law firm experience representing biotech and pharmaceutical companies in patent licensing, collaborations, and advancing novel therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostic, and digital health technologies through clinical trials toward regulatory approval. This position is based in Washington, DC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent biotech and pharmaceutical companies in patent licensing and collaboration agreements.
  • Negotiate complex standalone commercial transactions that advance cutting-edge technologies.
  • Provide legal support and advice to founders developing innovative technologies.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents related to licensing, collaborations, and commercial transactions.
  • Advise clients on regulatory issues, particularly concerning FDA approval processes.
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessment for technology transactions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and legal developments in the life sciences and technology sectors.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business goals and provide tailored legal solutions.
  • Manage and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including regulatory, clinical, and commercial departments.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in licensing, collaboration, and commercial partnering transactions.
  • Significant law firm experience representing biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal transactions and negotiations.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • DC Bar admission (or eligibility to waive in or take the next available DC Bar exam).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the DC Bar or eligibility to waive in or take the next available DC Bar exam.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of patent law and intellectual property issues in the life sciences sector.
  • Expertise in FDA regulatory processes and requirements.
  • Exceptional negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously.
