Job Title: Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm, located in Washington, D.C., is seeking a skilled Attorney with expertise in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) matters. This position involves working on regulatory counseling and litigation related to the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act, as well as handling complex issues within FERC’s regulations, procedures, and organization. Ideal candidates will have strong legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to strategically solve intricate legal challenges.

Duties:

  • Drafting and reviewing memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs for FERC-related matters.
  • Collaborating with teams of attorneys on regulatory or litigation cases.
  • Handling complex legal, factual, and procedural matters with a strategic mindset.
  • Managing e-discovery and conducting factual investigations.
  • Providing creative and analytical legal solutions to complex issues.
  • Participating in FERC-related regulatory proceedings and litigation.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in regulatory counseling or litigation, particularly related to FERC matters.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Power Act, Natural Gas Act, and FERC’s regulations and procedures.
  • Prior experience at FERC is advantageous but not required.
  • Active license to practice law in Washington, D.C., or the ability to waive into that jurisdiction.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for both written and oral advocacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in e-discovery tools and factual investigation techniques.
