A law firm is currently seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney for their Washington, DC office with 3-5 years of insurance coverage and commercial litigation experience. The Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney will play a key role in the firm's practice, focusing on insurance coverage issues under professional liability, general liability, and directors' and officers' insurance policies. The role requires extensive civil litigation experience, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, managing all facets of discovery and discovery motion practice, conducting depositions, and making court appearances (commensurate with experience level). Preferred qualifications include experience with business development, client management, and independent case management. Excellent academic credentials and a demonstration of superior research and writing ability are essential.

 

Duties:

  • Understand insurance coverage issues under professional liability, general liability, and directors' and officers' insurance policies.
  • Manage all facets of civil litigation, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions.
  • Handle discovery processes and discovery motion practice.
  • Conduct depositions and court appearances (commensurate with experience level).
  • Experience with business development and client management.
  • Independently manage cases.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of insurance coverage and commercial litigation experience.
  • Extensive civil litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of professional liability, general liability, and directors' and officers' insurance policies.
  • Experience with business development and client management (preferred).
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Superior research and writing ability.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in the state of practice.

 

Skills:

  • Insurance coverage and commercial litigation experience.
  • Civil litigation proficiency.
  • Legal research and writing.
  • Business development and client management skills.
  • Case management skills.
