A law firm seeks a Principal Attorney with a seasoned background in franchise law to join its Business Practice Group in Seattle, WA. This role provides the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients on sophisticated franchise matters, guiding clients through the entire franchise lifecycle, from compliance and agreements to relationship management and dispute resolution. The attorney will work closely with an experienced team across multiple practice areas.

Duties

  • Represent franchisors, franchisees, manufacturers, and distributors in franchise and licensing-related legal matters.
  • Prepare and review franchise-related documents, including disclosure documents, registrations, and franchise agreements.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with franchise laws and manage franchise relationship issues.
  • Address inquiries from regulatory agencies and represent clients in franchise-related disputes.
  • Collaborate with attorneys from other practice areas to deliver comprehensive, strategic solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in franchise law, including representing franchisors and franchisees, preparing franchise documentation, advising on compliance, and handling government inquiries.
  • Portable Book of Business: Partial or full book of business required.
  • Academic Credentials: JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic standing.
  • Licensing: Active license to practice law.
  • Skills: Proficiency in legal analysis, writing, and a client-centered approach.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for effective client interactions and advisement.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team setting.
  • Project Management: Competency in managing multiple projects and responsibilities with a focus on detail and organization.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law.
