Global Equity Compensation and Employment Associate Attorney

Job Overview
A leading law firm based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Global Equity Compensation and Employment Associate or Managing Associate with 3-5 years of experience. This position will involve working within the Global Employment and Equity Compensation team to provide comprehensive counsel to a diverse clientele, including multinational corporations and emerging technology companies. The role offers the opportunity to delve into a variety of complex equity compensation and employment issues, enhancing both the client experience and the attorney's professional growth.

Duties

  • Counsel clients on equity compensation and employment issues, including stock option (SO), restricted stock unit (RSU), and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) programs.
  • Manage ongoing compliance and securities filings related to SO, RSU, and ESPP.
  • Address leaves of absence, accommodations, independent contractor classification, employment agreements, performance management, and terminations.
  • Prepare multi-country analyses and draft relevant employment and compensation documents.
  • Conduct multijurisdictional research and collaborate with global teams on client projects.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of analyses during client meetings.
  • Work on employment agreements, handbooks, bonus and commission plans, and due diligence for global M&A transactions.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in employee equity compensation or employment counseling, with a preference for cross-border experience.
  • Strong academic credentials with exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar is required.
  • Direct experience with listed duties is highly appreciated.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
