Entry-Level Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will represent clients in various immigration matters, including removal proceedings and family-based petitions. The role requires effective case management, strategic legal analysis, and working collaboratively with clients and colleagues.

Key Duties:

• Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a caseload, including visiting and conducting intakes with detained individuals at centers.
• Prepare and review diverse immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS applications.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
• Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine necessary strategies.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis to identify potential case benefits for clients.

Requirements:

• 1 year of experience in Immigration Law.
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
• Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.
• Record of moving legal cases forward and managing a caseload effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish).

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the state bar in California.
