Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, primarily in mechanical and electrical engineering fields.
• Provide strategic advice on patent portfolios, including preparation of patentability opinions.
• Handle interactions with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other regulatory bodies.
• Review and analyze patent portfolios and draft related legal documents.
• Work on IP-related litigation support as needed, collaborating with other team members.
• Manage client relationships, providing timely updates on case developments.
• Assist in the development of strategies to protect clients’ intellectual property rights.
• Stay informed of changes in patent law and industry trends, ensuring compliance and advising clients accordingly.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution.
• Experience drafting patent applications in mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines.
• Registered with the USPTO.
• Must be admitted to practice law in Virginia.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
• High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
• A solid understanding of patent laws and regulations.

Education:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Certifications:

• Must be registered with the USPTO.
• Admission to the Virginia Bar is required.
