A law firm seeks a well-rounded Business & Tax Attorney to join its team in Lansing, Michigan. This position is ideal for a candidate with 6 to 12 years of experience in multiple areas of business and tax law, eager to contribute to a dynamic and progressive culture within a well-established firm.

Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance in corporate planning and serve as general counsel for business clients.
  • Manage mergers and acquisitions, ensuring compliance and successful integration.
  • Advise on corporate taxation matters, including strategies to optimize tax positions.
  • Address cybersecurity issues relevant to business operations and data protection.
  • Review and draft contracts, ensuring legal soundness and alignment with client goals.
  • Offer expertise in intellectual property law to protect clients' innovations and brands.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships through effective communication and service.

Requirements:

  • 6 to 12 years of experience in business and tax law.
  • Proven expertise in two or more of the following areas: corporate planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate taxation, cybersecurity, contract review, or intellectual property.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with a focus on client service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to deliver exceptional legal solutions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Michigan State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex legal issues.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, particularly in contract discussions and business transactions.
  • Detail-oriented with effective organizational skills.
