A law firm seeks an experienced Environmental Litigation Attorney to manage complex PFAS contamination cases. This role involves handling cases from inception through resolution, conducting comprehensive legal research, collaborating with experts, and advocating for clients affected by toxic substances. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in environmental law, toxic torts, and class action litigation, with a deep understanding of federal and state environmental regulations.

Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of PFAS contamination cases, from client intake to resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and develop tailored case strategies for PFAS-related litigation, focusing on liability assessment, damage determination, and identifying responsible entities.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses, consultants, and investigators to compile and analyze evidence, including scientific studies, environmental assessments, and medical documentation.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of federal and state PFAS-related regulations and support efforts to enhance community protections against contamination.
  • Manage discovery processes, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Prepare persuasive legal documents such as motions, briefs, and trial materials.
  • Represent clients effectively in negotiations, hearings, and trial proceedings.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Certifications:
    • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in environmental law, toxic torts, or related plaintiff-side litigation.
    • Background in class action or mass tort cases involving toxic substances is highly preferred.
    • Proven litigation and trial experience with complex, high-profile cases involving multiple plaintiffs or environmental issues.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including CERCLA, TSCA, and EPA standards.
    • Exceptional analytical, research, and legal writing abilities.
    • Proficient in deposition strategies, both taking and defending.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
