Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Woodbury, NY, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to independently manage a caseload involving general liability, commercial litigation, and/or employment litigation. The role requires handling all aspects of litigation from inception through resolution, including extensive discovery practice, court appearances, and depositions. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job Duties:

• Manage a litigation caseload independently, handling cases from start to finish.
• Conduct extensive discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and other proceedings.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Communicate regularly with clients, providing status updates and strategy discussions.
• Argue motions and attend court appearances as necessary.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Maintain organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
• 1-2 years of litigation experience, preferably in general liability, commercial litigation, and/or employment litigation.
• Experience with drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, and arguing motions.
• Strong academic credentials and demonstrated legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and the court.
