Job Title: Patent Prosecution And Litigation Associate Attorney - IP Litigation 

Job Overview: A well-regarded law firm in Charlotte, NC is currently seeking an Associate Attorney with expertise in patent prosecution and litigation. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on high-stakes intellectual property matters, including both prosecution and litigation. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in IP litigation, including depositions, motions practice, and case management, as well as an interest in managing cases and mentoring junior associates.

Duties:

• Handle a diverse range of IP litigation cases, including patent disputes, from inception to resolution.
• Draft and argue motions, conduct depositions, and manage expert witnesses.
• Participate in PTAB and trial proceedings.
• Oversee and manage cases, collaborating with senior attorneys and supervising junior associates or paralegals.
• Develop strategies for case management and resolution, ensuring clients receive optimal legal counsel.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and legal advice as necessary.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in IP litigation, with a focus on patent cases.
• Proven track record of handling complex litigation, including depositions, motions practice, and expert witness coordination.
• Experience with PTAB proceedings or trial practice is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases and mentor junior associates.
• An engineering degree is preferred.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO is preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in South Carolina or the ability to become licensed shortly after joining the firm.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. state (South Carolina preferred).
• USPTO registration is highly desirable.
