Job Overview

A law firm in Charlotte, NC, seeks an experienced Corporate/Employment Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring substantial expertise in employment law and a proven track record from a nationally recognized law firm. This role requires a blend of legal acumen, strong organizational skills, and a client-focused approach.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on employment-related compliance issues, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, immigration matters, union and collective bargaining processes, employment policies and handbooks, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, and other documents.
  • Provide counsel on reductions-in-force and WARN Act issues.
  • Draft and advise on restrictive covenants and related matters.
  • Conducted due diligence and handled employment-related representations and covenants in transaction documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in employment practices.
  • Stay current on employment law developments and advise on their implications for clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Proven experience advising on employment-related compliance, drafting employment and separation agreements, and handling reductions-in-force and WARN Act issues.
  • Demonstrated expertise in restrictive covenants and employment-related diligence.
  • Excellent academic credentials and a strong record of legal practice.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of the NC Bar or eligibility to waive into the NC Bar.
