Duties

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the field of electrical engineering and software.
  • Provide technical expertise in the areas of chip design, wireless communication (e.g., 5G, 6G, 3GPP standards).
  • Assist in patent litigation matters, including pre-litigation investigations and discovery.
  • Work closely with clients to advise on patent strategy and patent portfolio management.
  • Analyze and review patent-related documents and applications.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and engineers to develop technical and legal strategies.

Requirements

  • 2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Experience with wireless communication technologies, including 5G, 6G, and 3GPP standards, is desired but not required.
  • Must be admitted to practice before the USPTO and a member of the USPTO.
  • Associate candidates must be licensed to practice law or have the ability to become licensed in the state of their office location.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice before the USPTO.

Skills

  • Patent prosecution and drafting experience.
  • Expertise in electrical engineering and software technology.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
