Job Title: Patent Agent - Medical Devices

Job Overview: A law firm located in Wayne, PA, is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property team. The successful candidate will focus on patent applications, office actions, opinions, and prior art searches in the medical device and bioengineering fields. Candidates with expertise in mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, and computer science are highly encouraged to apply.

Duties:

  • Draft, prosecute, and file patent applications for medical devices and bioengineering technologies.
  • Respond to office actions from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Assist in preparing legal opinions related to patentability, infringement, and validity.
  • Conduct prior art searches to support patent filings and legal strategies.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support patent strategy and development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent in patent prosecution.
  • Experience with medical devices, bioengineering, or related technical fields.
  • Strong understanding of patent law, prosecution processes, and USPTO practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple patent cases.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in bioengineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex technical information.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with patent filing software and tools.
