A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its team in Panama City, FL. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with a focus on construction litigation and/or community association law. The attorney will support the firm’s diverse civil practice while assisting a range of clients. This role offers the opportunity to work with minimal supervision and contribute to various practice areas, fostering both personal and professional growth.

Duties:

  • Assist in civil litigation, including construction disputes and community association matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and contracts.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Collaborate with other team members and assist in various practice areas as needed.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring timely progress and client communication.
  • Provide support to senior attorneys and take on increasing responsibilities.
  • Offer legal counsel to clients, advising on risk management and dispute resolution.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on construction law or community association law.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Membership in the Florida Bar is required.
  • A background in business (undergraduate degree, MBA, or relevant work experience) is a plus.
  • Prior knowledge or connections to the Walton/Bay/Okaloosa County area is preferred, but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field (business-related degree is a plus).

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of civil litigation, construction, and community association law is highly desirable.
