Job Overview:
A law firm based in Elkhart, IN, is seeking an Associate Attorney specializing in Personal Injury law to join their team. The role involves comprehensive case management, including client consultations, legal research, negotiations, and courtroom representation. The attorney will primarily advocate for clients who have been injured, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes in their cases. Duties:

• Client Consultation: Assess the viability of personal injury cases by gathering relevant information, including medical records, police reports, and witness statements.
• Case Evaluation: Analyze the facts of the case to determine potential legal recourse and advise clients on their options.
• Investigation and Research: Conduct thorough investigations by interviewing witnesses, reviewing documents, and gathering expert opinions. Stay up-to-date with legal precedents, statutes, and regulations.
• Negotiation: Negotiate settlements with insurance companies, defense lawyers, and other involved parties to secure a fair resolution for clients.
• Litigation: Prepare legal documents, such as complaints, motions, and discovery requests. Represent clients in court by presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making compelling legal arguments.
• Settlement and Compensation: Ensure that settlements reflect fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, emotional distress, and other damages.
• Client Communication: Maintain consistent contact with clients to update them on case progress and provide necessary support throughout the process.
• Legal Research & Learning: Continuously improve legal knowledge through education and staying informed on changes in personal injury law.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Indiana State Bar and the federal courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
• 3-5 years of experience practicing personal injury law
• Solid understanding of personal injury law, tort law, and civil litigation.
• Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively negotiate with opposing attorneys and insurance companies.
• Empathy and strong interpersonal skills to support clients during challenging times.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required.

Certifications:

• Must be admitted to the Indiana State Bar.
• Admission to the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana is preferred.
