Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Cerritos, CA is currently seeking a seasoned associate attorney with a focus on commercial and complex litigation, specifically in the realm of wage and hour class actions. This opportunity is offered through a legal recruiting agency representing the hiring firm. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in labor and employment law, particularly related to California and federal wage regulations, and will be comfortable managing high-stakes litigation with minimal supervision.

Duties:

  • Defend employers in wage and hour litigation matters, with emphasis on class and collective actions

  • Draft and respond to complex written discoveries with limited oversight

  • Handle depositions and prepare related motion work

  • Create, implement, and manage discovery strategies from start to finish

  • Draft persuasive legal briefs, including opposition to class certification motions

  • Advise clients on case progress, legal strategy, and litigation risks

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and client representatives

  • Maintain professionalism and demonstrate strategic thinking in all litigation matters

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in employment litigation defense

  • Proficiency in both California and federal wage and hour regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to independently handle discovery, depositions, and related motion practice

  • Solid understanding of wage and hour claims including overtime, meal, and rest break compliance

  • Prior experience opposing class certification motions is strongly preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • An active member of the California State Bar, in good standing
