The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and writing skills, with a solid work ethic and the ability to navigate complex patent law challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews with inventors to gather detailed information for patent applications.
  • Draft and file patent applications, ensuring compliance with all USPTO guidelines.
  • Prosecute patent applications, including responding to office actions and overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. 101.
  • Advise clients on patentability, validity, and infringement issues.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analysis.
  • Develop strategies for patent portfolio development and management.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and relevant technological fields.

Requirements:

  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field, preferably in software, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
  • 1-4 years of experience in patent law, including patent drafting, prosecution, and client counseling.
  • Strong understanding of patent law, including 35 U.S.C. 101 and related statutes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Washington State Bar or eligible to waive in.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO.
