A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney for its Houston, Texas office. Duties:

  • Provide clear, expert guidance on immigration matters and offer strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, handling both detained and non-detained cases.
  • Effectively manage a varied caseload, ensuring all deadlines and legal requirements are met.
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at centers, reviewing cases and determining next steps.
  • Prepare and file a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and refine immigration applications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding changes to immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients, evaluating their needs and developing tailored strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS testimony.
  • Perform legal analyses to determine potential benefits for clients' cases and recommend next steps.
  • Prepare legal briefs, motions, and submissions for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in immigration law, with expertise in removal defense, family-based petitions, and USCIS applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage a caseload while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate and strategize with other attorneys and staff members.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to move cases forward and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of Texas or eligibility to practice in Texas.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including both detained and non-detained cases.
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities, with experience drafting legal briefs and motions.
  • Proven track record of managing and progressing legal cases efficiently.
  • Client-focused approach with the ability to build trust and provide clear legal advice.
  • Experience with case management software and legal tools.
