A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a skilled Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in employment matters, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FLSA cases. The role requires extensive client contact, including conducting witness interviews, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and handling various litigation tasks. Prior experience in employment litigation and familiarity with trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct substantive witness interviews and manage discovery processes.
  • Take and defend depositions, and regularly appear in court to defend motions.
  • Manage cases from inception to resolution, including drafting dispositive motions such as demurrers, anti-SLAPP motions, motions for judgment, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Handle extensive client contact, providing updates and strategic advice throughout the litigation process.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including motions and briefs.
  • Appear in court and represent clients in hearings, trials, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel as needed.
  • Maintain and manage case files and documentation effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FLSA matters.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • Proven experience in managing litigation, including case management and substantive legal writing.
  • Prior experience in taking and defending depositions, and handling various court motions.
  • Experience in trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes preferred.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.

  • Strong litigation skills, including the ability to manage cases effectively and draft complex legal documents.
  • Proficiency in conducting witness interviews, managing discovery, and handling depositions.
  • Experience in drafting and arguing dispositive motions and defending motions in court.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with trial, mediation, and other dispute resolution processes.
