A law firm in Pittsburgh is seeking an Oil and Gas Associate Attorney to join their team. The candidate will assist with various litigation matters related to oil and gas, including preparing pleadings, conducting legal research, drafting briefs and memoranda, and counseling clients on contract matters. Pennsylvania Bar admission is required, with West Virginia and Ohio licensure considered a bonus. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and proficiency in basic Microsoft-based document preparation tools.

Duties:

  • Assist with litigation matters, including preparing pleadings, responding to discovery, and preparing for depositions.
  • Conduct legal research and draft briefs, memoranda, and litigation position statements.
  • Make court appearances as necessary.
  • Review contract documents and research instruments in chains of title.
  • Counsel clients regarding oil and gas-related contract matters and potential litigation.
  • Utilize time-entry systems for accurate tracking of billable hours.

Requirements:

  • Pennsylvania Bar admission required.
  • Should have 1-3 years of experience 
  • West Virginia and Ohio licensure preferred.
  • Litigation experience, including drafting pleadings, responding to discovery, and arguing motions.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions is preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft-based document preparation tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar. West Virginia and Ohio licensure are bonuses.
